The penalty is up to 4 weeks pay. · You cannot alter or vary terms of employment without the consent of the employee. · Part Timers must be treated comparably to full timers. For example, they must receive the same holiday entitlement (but of course pro rata). · Employees are only obliged to give you I weeks notice (regardless of the length of service) – unless you state otherwise in your contract with them. · If you are planning any redundancy observe the correct procedures to the letter. You may have decent grounds for redundancy but failure to adopt the correct procedure can result in a claim for unfair dismissal. · Employees with children under 6 (or disabled children under 18) have special flexible working rights.
