Badger's opinion

Lovely people with a relevant tolerant attitude to most things (not to be confused with total liberality). Sadly the topography of the country (much of the countryside is under sea level having been reclaimed) does not make it the biking Mecca of Europe – nor indeed the food capital. The country’s traditional past (particularly with Indonesia) does make for an interesting variety of restaurants. Try the pea and ham concoctions with apple sauce – not “nouvelle cuisine”, but quite tasty. On balance may be better to leave the bike at home (unless en route) and savour some of the other delights! Often called the Netherlands, the Netherlands was actually an individual section of the whole country which gradually gave its name to the whole.
