As a singing biker, Badger’s cousin, Phil loves the place. The mountainous
north (lakes, skiing, scenery and walking) gives way to a flatter south
with some wonderful cities – Venice, Verona, Florence and Rome. Some
lovely biking in Tuscany and Umbria – but do watch your belongings
in parts.
Touring and Rides Boring bits Drinking and Driving Level of alcohol in blood over 0.05% = severe penalties including fines, confiscation of vehicle and imprisonment. Driving Licence Over 125cc (or with passenger) = 18 years. Fines On-the-spot – particularly heavy for speeding offences. Police can impose the fine and collect one quarter of the maximum fine – and must give receipt for amount of fine paid. Illegally parked vehicles can be clamped or towed away with a fine. Fuel Unleaded petrol (95 octane). No leaded petrol (but lead substitute additive available). Credit cards accepted at most filling stations – check with card issuer for usage before travelling. Lights Dipped headlights during daytime compulsory Insurance third party compulsory. Kids as Pillions Must be over 18 years minimum.
